A downloadable tool for Android

JarlyME is a J2ME emulator I'm building just because I enjoy it.

I like writing emulators, experimenting with old tech, and seeing classic games run again in new ways.

This project isn't rushed — it's a hobby, built slowly, piece by piece.

About this release

This is a very early public build — uploaded to share progress, not to declare it finished.

If a game you remember doesn't run, that's expected for now.

If it does run, enjoy it.

Built for fun, curiosity, and nostalgia.

Every bit counts.

0.5.1 give me graphics problems that 0.4.5 do not.

Thanks for the report! What games are affected and how?

Heroes Lore Zero

Thank You, I'll check it and fix it to the next version.

Heya! I just got the v0.5 update and I am not able to open DoomRPG but I cannot seem to send you a screenshot inside the app. I can send you logs if you need them.

Thank you, I'll go through all the Doom games I have and publish a fix as soon as possible.

Also please be aware that if you're on iPhone and the game is stored on iCloud, after an app update the link to the game loses validity. That is an iOS thing. This is something I'll be fixing in a future update. Jarly is not an emulator that moves or copies your games - the list only contains links to the games. If the game is stored on your phone, the link stays valid after an update.

Ah yeah I re added it and it works fine. Great! Thanks! I am going to see about other games now that you added controller support.

(+1)

I released an update (0.5.1) which should fix the invalid link issue

Got my first crash! Yayah!

Received during the second playthrough of DOOMRPG.

That’s great!

Could you please let me know the exact file size of the DOOM RPG .jar file you are using? Also, could you briefly describe what was happening in the game right before it crashed? Knowing the steps helps me reproduce and fix the bug.

Thanks so much for testing!

I was navigating a corridor. I was using the circle pad.

Thanks i'll check it.

Oh this is freakin’ cool! I remember these from my OG Moto RAZR and even apps from my Blackberry Pearl. Yes I know how old that makes me sound!

I never got to play DOOM RPG because it was never offered on my phones. I finally got to play it!

  • At least on iOS (the beta program is posted), sound does not work yet. Still, help the guy out and run a beta test. You can find games on archive.org by searching ‘jar games’ where some people have preserved a ton of them.
  • iOS: the zoom controls are hidden behind the camera notch making it untappable in vertical orientation.

suggestions:

  • Gamepad support. I have a Retroid Pocket running Android and would love to be able to map the virtual buttons to the controls.

Thanks, this made my day! Glad you finally got to play DOOM RPG! 😄

You're right about the sound — just confirmed the issue on iOS.
Works on Android, iOS fix is coming. Thanks for catching it!

No worries! I worked in Software QA for six years. I may barrage you with bug reports.

Perfect! Bug reports are very welcome!

could you add me to the Android beta?

You're added
Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll sort it out. Thanks again for testing!

Thanks for the gamepad suggestion — added to the roadmap.
